Fred: [in Urkel voice] "Did I do that?"

Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson is a total loser.  Don't get mad at us, Fredheads.  He said so himself.

Carl Cameron of Fox News was trying to hurry his staff's preparation for an interview with Thompson.  To prod his staff along, Cameron said, "The next President of the United States has a schedule to keep."  Thompson responded, "And so do I."

So after all that time on Law and Order, Thompson couldn't just act like he thinks he's going to win?

When all this went down, Thompson's aides:

a) cringed

b) wanted to crawl under the nearest desk and die

c) wanted to punch him in his effing face for being so stupid (stupid!) and blowing his miniscule chance to win, after they have worked long hours campaigning on his behalf for a salary smaller than a six grader's allowance

d) all of the above

Senior Editor at The New Republic, Michelle Cottle, wrote an article profiling Jeri Thompson, wife of GOP presidential candidate Fred Thompson.  Jeri gets a lot of attention in the press for being attractive, blonde, and 24 years younger than her husband.

Cottle portrays Jeri as a woman who always has a strategy (and the ability to execute it) to get what she wants, whether that be a man, a job, a hot handbag or a fly shoe.  Ain't nothing wrong with that.

Cottle also offers a peek into the more "soap opera like" aspects of the Thompsons' life together, such as Fred's womanizing, Jeri's public battles with his other girlfriends in the gossip columns, Jeri's financial difficulties, and Jeri's past either living with or being married to (no one is sure) another man.

Drama.

Yeah, we saw the Republican debate last night.  First we watched Romney and Giuliani have a few catfights, and then we watched paint dry Fred Thompson say a few words.

MSNBC's Maria Bartiromo (go girl!) and Chris Matthews moderated.

USA Today ran a story today about Jeri Thompson's "debut" as a potential first lady.  Thompson gave her first interview to Sean Hannity on the Fox News Channel last night.  She appeared with her husband (who did most of the talking) and their two children.  Watch below.

Rick Beltram, the GOP Chairman in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, called Republican presidential candidate and former Law & Order TV actor Fred Thompson's wife, Jeri, a "trophy wife."  Thompson is 25 years older than his wife, who also happens to be blonde and pretty.  The couple has two children together, and Thompson has children and grandchildren from a previous marriage. After barely a week in the Republican primary race, Fred Thompson catches Rudy Giuiliani.  CNN reports that they are now neck and neck, according to a recent poll.
Politico reports that Hollywood actor and as of yet unannounced predidential candidate, Sen. Fred Thompson,  will officially announce his bid for the presidency (no surprise there) via webcast on September 6th.  The night before, Thompson will "tease his announcement" during an appearance on "The Tonight Show."  You can get the full scoop here
