From Oprah.com:

In June 2009, married South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford went missing. Five days later, he surfaced and confessed he traveled to Argentina for a secret rendezvous with a woman he calls his soul mate. His wife, Jenny Sanford, has filed for divorce and is now telling her story in her new book, Staying True. She tells Oprah about discovering the affair, her decision to file for divorce and how this ordeal has affected her family.  Here's the vid.

O Michelle!

Michelle Obama O Magazine.jpgIn an interview featured in O Magazine, Michelle Obama tells Oprah what she knows for sure. A sneak peek is over here, but you have to pick up the magazine (on newsstands March 17th) to get full scoop.

O Mag_december_2008.jpgOprah's column in the holiday issue of O Magazine:

The economy is in flux, and so are we. For years I've noticed that the universe speaks to us in whispers. If we ignore the whispers, we get pebbles of warning.  If we still don't pay attention, we get bricks of problems, and if we're really hardheaded, eventually the entire brick wall comes crashing down. This is a pattern I've seen repeated so often in every area of life that I know for sure when you don't pay attention to the pebbles, it's just a matter of time before the bricks show up.

Our nation's financial crisis is the brick wall that's going to force us to deal with the reality of what truly matters. And to face the spiritual crisis of figuring out who we are and who we choose to be.

Our spending and greed for material things that we think will define us have been forcibly put in check. We have a wake-up-call opportunity to get real and be real with others by finding ways to show love, give love, be love without spending a lot of money. It's a chance for us to look beneath the surface, into the culture of excessive more, more, more-ness that got us into this mess.

It will take more than a bailout to get us on the right track. We need a shift in the way we think about our lives. We may have to search deeply to recognize what matters. Sometimes when I ask people what it would take to make them happy, they don't know what to say. They forge an answer about family and friends, and yet their lives are about everything else.

Everything in life has meaning. The bigger the fall, the greater the lesson.

Oprah

Oprah pretty.jpgOMG!

We hear that Oprah Winfrey is searching for a home in Washington D.C. (Yay! We loves us some Oprah!)

Word is she's looking at buying a mansion in Georgetown for chump change. (Chump change = $50 million in Oprah's book.)

See Oprah's potential new crib below.  You can check out the inside  over here. Or if you're in DC and you really want to be nosey, we suppose you could do a driveby....

Oh don't act like all uppity, like you've never done a driveby before!  At least once (and you know it's been more than once), you and your girls have giggled on by some cute boy's house because you "just happened" to be in the neighborhood. (Note: neighborhood = anywhere within a 12 mile radius of said cute boy's home).

U.S. Senators better prepare for an avalanche! Oprah Winfrey asked her millions of viewers today to call, write and email their U.S. Senators and tell them to "vote yes on Senate Bill 1738--The PROTECT Our Children Act."  If passed, The PROTECT Our Children Act will fund additional law enforcement support to catch child sexual predators.

"We need to put pressure on our U.S. Senators to bring [the Act] to the floor," Oprah said on her show. "And we don't want them to just bring it to the floor; We want them to pass it."

Oprah has posted the contact information for every U.S. Senator on her website, along with a pre-written letter in support of the bill that viewers can just sign and send to their senators.  You can visit Oprah's web page dedicated to passing the bill right here.

Oprah, known for her philanthropic efforts as well as her media success, is a long-time supporter of child advocacy causes.

Why does Hillary Clinton keep getting the short end of the stick when it comes to celebrity endorsements?  Barack Obama gets Oprah, and Hillary gets stuck with Roseanne Barr.  Anyway, much to Hillary's chagrin, Roseanne announced her endorsement with this rant against Barack and Oprah on her blog (printed as written, with spelling errors and all):

barak obama

is an empty suit selling "hope" in lieu of Truth. Oprah Winfrey helped to elect Arnold Swartzenegger. I have no doubt that she voted her purse by doing this, as she is a large land owner in California, and that ilk fears Dems because they do not want to pay their "fair share" of Cali tax. Oprah has given us Swartzenegger and Dr. Phil. If that was not offensive enough to decent thinking people, now she brings us Obama. He has no ideas, no plan and nothing to add other than the cynical pacification of the masses with bedtime stories about hope, while calling Unions "special interest groups" that need to be done away with.
Obama votes with Bush constantly funding this terrible endless war. Oprah, you play the race card and the gender card too.
You are a closeted republican and chose Barak Obama because you do not like other women who actually stand for something to working American Women besides glamour, angels, hollywood and dieting!
When Americans find out that Obama backs right wing corporate racist anti worker bullshit, they will not vote for him, and the victory will go to the most racist right wing republican ever.... Mccain, who is a fascist! That the culinary service workers in vegas have promised barak their vote,( he is anti union in his votes) over edwards, who is a pro-union man, just proves how stupid americans are and how they can be tricked so easily by the color of a person's skin...exactly what MLK hated!
Obama doesn't even back reproductive rights for any woman! It is historical that Oprah Winfrey, beloved of women, chooses a flashy man with small credentials over a seasoned woman politician with 35 years of experience...and sells that to the female demographic who look to her for inspiration!

She backpedalled in a follow-up post:

I am so sorry for sounding like I don't like Oprah or Obama. I do. Oprah has been a force for good for a long time, and I just got carried away with my preference for Hilary over Obama. I think she is smarter and better than he is, but either of them is better than any Republican, and will get my vote no matter who ends up on top. I got upset because I felt Oprah was adding to the divisiveness in this country. I am sorry Oprah, I really do admire and love you for all the good you do and have done in this country and the world at large. I am just so worried about another Republican getting in, my stomache hurts and I can't sleep, and I go over the top sometimes!

On today's Oprah Show, Oprah shared this letter writing tip that she got from President Bill Clinton:

When you write a note to someone, limit it to one page.  That way, if the recipient decides to frame it, the note is easy to frame because it's on just one page.

File this handy tip under "solutions to problems only Oprah and Bill Clinton have."

Magic Johnson.jpgEarvin "Magic" Johnson will team up with co-hosts Quincy Jones and Berry Gordy to host a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton on September 14 in Los Angeles.  In a statement, Johnson said Clinton "has the experience and knowledge to help lead our country."

Just days earlier on September 8, Oprah Winfrey will host a fundraiser for Barack Obama at her Montecito estate.

oprah-xm-satellite-radio.jpg Oprah Winfrey, who has called presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama "my favorite guy" and "my choice," will host a swank fundraiser for him at her Montecito estate.  This is sure to be among the most talked-about events of the election season.  Who wouldn't want to kick it with Oprah, Barack and a bunch of A-list celebrities in Oprah's posh mansion?!  We are so there!

Tickets are $2,300 per person, which is the maximum amount that an individual can contribute to a primary election.  An individual can give a federal candidate up to a total of $4,600 in an election cycle, $2,300 for the primary election and $2,300 for the general election.  There are also perks for guests who raise money for the event in addition to writing their own check. Guests who raise $25,000 will get into a VIP reception, and those who raise $50,000 will get into a VIP dinner.

This is the first time that Oprah has officially endorsed an White House candidate. As Oprah is one of the most influential celebrities with a fan base of millions who trust her opinion and watch her show everyday (us included), her endorsement of Obama is likely to be worth far more to the campaign in exposure than any amount of money raised.
