President Bush was out to dinner with his wife Laura, when President Obama called to tell him that the U.S. captured and killed Osama Bin Laden.

"I didn't... feel any great sense of happiness. Or jubilation," Bush told National Geographic.  "I felt a sense of closure.  I felt a sense of gratitude that justice had been done."

For more, watch National Geographic's exclusive interview with President Bush on the events surrounding 911 and Bin Laden on August 28th.

bush_christmas_ap.jpgWhat did the Bushes score for Christmas?  G Dub gave Laura a purse and a silver tray.  (Can you imagine G Dub shopping for a purse?!) Laura gave  G Dub some gear for cold weather mountain biking.  The couple gave the twins, Jenna and Barbara, housewares for their apartments.

In an interview with Newsweek, Richard Land, a leading evangelical who serves as president of the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, said that evangelicals will support a third party candidate if Rudy Giuliani is the Republican presidential nominee.  After putting George W. Bush in office twice, the Christian right refuses to support any candidate whose anticipated policies could diminish their power and influence in the Republican Party.  Land had this to say about the matter, "... I have been in too many discussions over the last 15 years where evangelical leaders have said, 'The one thing we will never allow to happen is for the Republican Party to take us for granted the way the Democratic Party too often takes the African-American community for granted.'"

AR560x560,50 cent_50 official website.jpgHillary Clinton just scored an endorsement from rapper 50 Cent (ne Curtis James Jackson).  "I'd like to see Hillary Clinton be president," MTV News reports 50 told Rap-Up Magazine. "It would be nice to see a woman be the actual president and ... this is a way for us to have Bill Clinton be president again, and he did a great job during his term."

50, who shares a birthday with George W. Bush, also revealed his opinion of the president. "[Bush] has less compassion than a regular human being," he said. Seems Fiddy also thinks G-Dub is a punk. "Me and George Bush are so different. ... I actually go to war, when I go to war. Bush just sends [people] to war."

Well, it's about time.

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales will (finally) announce his resignation later today.  Word is that he gave his resignation to President Bush on Friday, but the White House held back on making an announcement until President Bush could meet Gonzales and his wife for lunch at the Crawford ranch.  Gonzales, a long-time friend of the Bush family, has been under fire for his role in the firing of nine U.S. attorneys for political purposes.  Lawmakers in both parties pushed for his resignation over the past several months.

Bush_Tony Snow.jpgWhite House press secretary, Tony Snow, said yesterday that he will leave the Bush administration soon because he can't afford to live on his salary.  "I will not be able to make it to the end of this administration, just financially," he said. Snow earns $168,000 per year, making him the kind of poor most Americans wish they could be.

Formerly a conservative political commentator and talk-show host on Fox News Radio, Snow was appointed press secretary in April 2006. A cancer survivor, he announced the recurrence of his colon cancer in March and completed his last chemotherapy treatment yesterday, but he did not cite health as a reason for his departure.  Snow is 52 and has 3 kids.

Love a good wedding! Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue... uh red?

Jenna Bush, 25, and Henry Hager, 29, got engaged yesterday in Maine. The White House released the following statement:

"President and Mrs. George W. Bush are happy to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jenna Bush, to Mr. Henry Hager, son of the Honorable and Mrs. John H. Hager of Richmond, Virginia. Miss Bush and Mr. Hager became engaged Wednesday, August 15, 2007."

So when you least expect it, expect it.  Karl Rove announced this morning that he will leave the Bush administration. Who woulda guessed that?  Rove and Bush were thought inseparable like Frick and Frack,  Brad and Jen, Ben and Jerry, Dolce and Gabbana...

The Wall Street Journal reports that Rove will resign from his position as President Bush's Deputy Chief of Staff on August 31st and return to his home in Texas.  Known as "Bush's Brain" and "the Architect" of Bush's rise to power, Rove is credited with masterminding Bush's gubernatorial and presidential campaign strategies.  He says that he is leaving to write a book and spend more time with his family.
