In a Facebook post Thursday, Chelsea Clinton welcomed her dad to Twitter.  She might as well have announced that her mom will run for president in 2016.

Let's see...  Bill Clinton is on Twitter.  Chelsea, who is well known for shunning publicity and shooing away the press, has become an active participant on Facebook.  And Chelsea gives TED talks to teens that are then circulated online.

It's called early adoption of a social media strategy folks.  Of course Hillary is running.

In her recent TEDxTeen talk, Chelsea Clinton encouraged young people to step up and make a change.

Word is that Chelsea Clinton's end-of-July wedding will take place at Astor Courts in upstate New York. The 50 acre estate hosts an ornate mansion and stunning views overlooking the Hudson river.

Astor Courts was designed in 1902 for fur trade heir John Jacob Astor IV.   Tragically, Astor went down with the Titanic just eight years later.

Since Astor's death, the home has changed ownership several times and served different purposes.  It was once even a retirement home for senior citizens.  The great-grandson of the home's first architect restored the home to it's original grandeur in 2008, and The New York Times made a photographic slide show of the property.  Check it out here.

Chelsea Clinton wishes her mom and all moms a happy mother's day, reminding everyone: "Your little girls can be anything they want to be when they grow up, even if it's to be the second woman president of the United States."

(Hmm.. this video must have been filmed before Barack Obama's big NC victory, but the sentiment is nice just the same.)

On a visit to the Butler University Bulldogs, Chelsea Clinton showed that she can be quite the bulldog herself.  When a student asked Chelsea if she thinks the Monica Lewinsky scandal hurt her mother's credibility, she quipped, "...I do not think that's any of your business."

Do. Not. Mess. With. Chelesa.

Campaign '08:

Hillary Clinton is back.  She won Ohio, Texas, and Rhode Island in Tuesday's primaries.  Rival Barack Obama won Vermont.  On the Republican ticket, John McCain won all 4 states and scored enough delegates to snag the Republican nomination. [The New York Times]

Mike Huckabee dropped out of the presidential race Tuesday.  "It's been a heckuva run," he said. [CNN]

Why hasn't Katie Couric, the highest paid news anchor, moderated a debate? Some say CBS News hasn't hosted a debate because of cost and lack of organization, leaving Katie disappointed. [The New York Observer]

Chelsea Clinton and Meghan McCain have totally different styles.  Each is helping her parent on the campaign trail in her own way. [Politico]

Jack McCain talks about his life as a McCain in the Navy and shares this advice from his dad: "'Don't lie, cheat or steal - anything else is fair game." [Navy Scout]

U.S. News:

The gym at Harvard is off limits to men a couple of hours each week to accomodate Muslim women who cannot work out in front of men. This policy is causing drama on campus, as some students think it's unfair while others don't mind it.  [CNN]

Jack Nicholson dishes on why he won't run for office ("I like my job."), his advice to friend Warren Beatty who just might run for office ("...I remind him that we've  got the best job.") and how he wishes politicians would stop calling celebrities "Hollywood nitwits" ("They can't get along without us.") in Part 2 of his interview with MTV News.  (We told you about Part 1 -where he endorses Hillary Clinton- here.)  [MTV News]

World News:

Cubans are frustrated by government restrictions that forbid them to travel to foreign countries, access the internet or use facilities, like hotels, that are reserved for tourists.  There's not much hope that new president Raul Castro, brother of Fidel, will do much to change this. [The Los Angeles Times]

Hillary Clinton has earned the support of the majority of African American female voters, but she wants an even bigger piece of that pie.  She sat down with Isabel Wilkerson of Essence, a magazine that targets African American women, for an interview published in the current issue (November 2007).  Here are a few exerpts of what she had to say about her marriage and family:

On her marriage:
“I know the truth of my life and of my marriage, my relationship and partnership, my deep abiding friendship with my husband. It's been enormously supportive to me through most of my life. Now obviously we've had challenges as everybody in the world knows. “But I never doubted that it was a marriage worth investing in even in the midst of those challenges,” she says, “and I'm really happy that I made that decision. Again, not a decision for everybody. And I think it's so important for women to stand up for the right of women to make a decision that is best for them.”

On the most romantic thing her husband has done for her: She hesitates for longer than is comfortable, then she says, “Oh he's so romantic. He's always bringing me back things from his trips. He brought me a giant wooden giraffe from Africa. Oh, he bought me this watch,” she said, holding out her left wrist to show off a Chanel watch, its bracelet made of white cubes shaped like elegant dentures, if you can picture it. “I had dental surgery, and he said it reminded him of teeth.”

Outside of work, what her proudest moment is:
“Chelsea,” she says without hesitation.

Pick up Essence to read the entire interview.

Bill Clinton is hosting a book party for Chelsea's ex-boyfriend, Ian Klauss, who penned Elvis Is Titanic.  The move is unusual in that, at least, I hope my dad isn't throwing any festivas for any of my exes.

Chelsea and her friends are expected to attend the book party, and Ian has dedicated the book to Chelsea.

Apparently, Chelsea and Ian really meant it when they said "let's still be friends" at the end of their break up talk. (We all say that, but who ever really means it?)
