First Lady Michelle Obama and the First Daughters, Sasha And Malia, paid a visit to children at Children's National Medical Center (known locally as Children's Hospital) the day before Christmas Eve. First Pup Bo Obama came along too.

Mrs. Obama and the girls read Christmas books to the children.  When While Mrs. Obama was reading, Bo spied a suspicious, bearded white guy in a red suit and hat lurking around the Christmas tree behind Sasha and Malia and began to bark. Even Santa can't pass Bo's security check.   Perhap the First Pup should keep watch at state dinners, so gate crashers a la the Salahis don't slip in for a free meal.

After the book reading, Mrs. Obama and her girls answered children's questions about their holiday plans and what they got the president for Christmas.  Watch above.

Puppy crisis over

And puppy makes five.  Bo Obama became the newest member of the Obama family on Tuesday. Of Bo, the president joked, "I've finally got a friend," and had this exchange with a reporter:

Prez Obama: [Bo will] be sleeping inside the White House

Reporter: Is he gonna be in a bed?

Prez Obama: Not in my bed!

Isaac Mizrahi Michelle Obama.jpg

Isaac Mizrahi's sketch of inaugural gowns for Michelle, Malia and Sasha Obama.  Incidentally, Mizrahi has a clothing line at Michelle's favorite store, Target.  Maybe that gives him a better shot at being selected to dress her on the big day.

President elect Obama might think choosing a presidential Cabinet is hard, but Michelle Obama has a more difficult decision to make:  she has to choose dress for inauguration.

Enter Women's Wear Daily with some inaugural fashion advice for the first Lady to be.  WWD asked the world's top fashion designers to submit sketches of potential inaugural picks for Mrs. Obama.

Check out the designers' sketches for Michelle Obama here.

And their sketches for Sasha and Malia here.

Maria Menounos of Access Hollywood interviewed Barack Obama's family (wife Michelle and daughters Malia and Sasha) on the 4th of July.   Sasha, 7, dished this scoop about her dad: he doesn't like ice cream.  "My dad doesn't like sweets," she explained. "He likes like minty gum.  He doesn't like bubble gum."
