Meghan McCain is not one of the - well, some would say crazies, but we try to remain impartial here so we'll say people - who thinks that Barack Obama is lying about having been born in the United States.

"Those asking, yes I believe Obama was born in this country and I think concentrating on that belittles the real problems we need to concentrate on concerning him as a President, and his administration," Meghan said on her Twitter page Friday. "I have real concerns about him as Prez but it doesnt include his birth."

Though Senator John McCain failed to clench the presidency, his run for commander-in-chief thrust his daughter, Meghan, into the national spotlight. Meghan is best known for writing the McCain Blogette, a blog recounting her experiences on the campaign trail with her father.

We couldn't help but notice that in addition to writing chops, Meghan's got some seriously awesome fashion ensembles too. As Meghan has pursued post-campaign endeavors, such as writing for the Daily Beast and talking politics on national television shows, she's brought her rockin' threads with her.

Meghan McCain and Tila.jpgMeghan's got quite a voluptuous shape, and she likes to dress it in solids, especially black. Pictured left (blonde on the right) at the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood, she paired a conservative black dress with an oversized Louis Vuitton black leather handbag -- not too exciting, but certainly very classy.

(A more surprising match? Meghan's rumored new BFF, reality TV star Tila Tequila, pictured left with Meghan, paired a floating white pearl necklace with a fitted black mini-dress and high-heeled bondage sandals to create a sexier version of Meghan's classic get-up.)

We also think Meghan totally pulls off the Norweigan look (she "inherited" her mother's ultra-peroxided blonde locks), but we're glad she hasn't resorted to Christina Aguilera red lipstick. (Not that "Ain't No Other Man" isn't on our pre-game playlist or anything.) Meghan generally opts for subtler makeup, and in line with her classic tastes are her accessories. Behold these timeless (and recession-unfriendly $400) Chanel shades and gold hoop earrings (pictured below).

Meghan McCain shades.jpgAs Meghan continues to blog her way through life, we hope she adds a little more color to her wardrobe. At a recent meeting with the Log Cabin Repbulicans, she stuck with her all-black look in a fabulous brocaded suit. Chic, yes, but c'mon, Meghan. Aren't you trying to re-energize the party? You totally could have gotten away with this crazy patriot-on-crack concoction.

Meghan McCain shades.jpgMeghan McCain just signed a six figure book deal for her second book.  Her first book was a children's book about her father, former presidential candidate John McCain.

Meghan's publisher-to-be, Hyperion, released a statement saying that Meghan's book will "touch on topics ranging from what the party needs to do to attract others like her, to the importance of technology in reaching out to younger voters, to what needs to be done to keep young people passionate and involved in politics in the future."

You can pick up Meghan's new book in the spring of 2010.

A quick catch up, so you'll be the brightest belle at the ball....

Now this is major: President Obama signed an executive order ending an 8 year ban on federal funding for stem cell research.  People with disabilities that could be cured by stem cell research (like Alzheimers and Parkinson's disease) are psyched! Right-to-lifers are having a hissy. [The Washington Post]

Meghan McCain on Ann Coulter: "I'll choke that skinny bitch!" Okay, maybe that's not an exact quote, but you're more likely to read our blog if we say that's what she said. Anyway, Meghan thinks Ann is "offensive, radical, insulting, and confusing," and she'll tell you how she really feels over here

Meghan McCain wishes her dad's campaign consultants were a lot more like The Millionaire Matchmaker.  Not one of them - not one! - advised her that she would have a hard time getting dates after the election. (They just focused on debates and polls and stuff.  Go figure.)

Anyhow, all the politicos' lame dating advice aside, Meghan is looking for the "right" guy for her.  Read the trials and tribulations of her search over here.

Finding the right (or left) guy for you can be tough.  Because not to be sexist or anything, but men can be so stupid! Megs, we feel your pain!

Update: John McCain comments on Meghan's dating woes below:

Whatever happened to Meghan McCain, daughter of John and founder of McCainBloggette?  Well, if anybody would know, it would be your plucky, know-it-all friends at Polichicks, right?  Right!

Meghan is now a writer for The Daily Beast.  Her first assignment?  A post-campaign interview with her mom Cindy.  Read it over here.

Meghan McCain and her McCain Blogettes are touring the country to promote her dad's campaign.  Meghan shares what she and her friends have been up to on the road:

Meghan McCain and little Piper Palin made a girlpower video together, behind the scenes of the McCain Palin campaign. Meghan posted the video on her blog at mccainblogette.com.

The press has had a field day with this little tidbit:

Vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin's daughter, Bristol, is an unwed, pregnant teenager.

Meghan McCain, daughter of John of course, offered this support for Bristol on her blog:

It's a rough go being the son or daughter of a politician. I have not known Bristol Palin very long, but there is a certain kinship I feel to her as I do other political daughters such as Chelsea Clinton, Jenna and Barbara Bush and Mary Cheney. You can't fully understand it unless you have lived it. So I just wanted to let it be known that I support Bristol and the entire Palin family.

Meghan McCain poses for the September issue of Glamour

The September issue of Glamour dishes all you need to know about Meghan McCain.  For starters, Meghan's not interested in dating a guy who wants to get closer to her dad than her:

I don't want to be an accessory to a guy's impending political career, and unfortunately I get that a lot. I'm not attracted to guys with political action committees, I'm sorry.... I'm attracted to men whose realities are different [from mine]. You'll get a lot further with me talking about art and music than you will talking about politics.... And I'd really hate myself if I dated a journalist.

Meghan has no interest in dudes who lack game, particularly the guy who tried to pick her up with this lameness: "Baby, I could totally give you a tour of the Capitol."  Imagine the deflation of that guy's ego if Meghan told him her dad is John McCain, so she can see the Capitol any ol' time.  And who uses pick up lines like that anyway?  Alas, as we know all too well from personal experience, every other guy....

If even a potential first daughter can't escape weak game, what hope is there for the rest of us?

Meghan McCain White House Corresp Dinner Getty.jpg

Here's Meghan McCain, dressed to impress at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner back in April.  Will she wear a similar style to the Inaugural Balls in January or will the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner be the closest she ever comes to Inaugural Ball like festivities?  Stay tuned to find out on November 4th.

As we said before, Meghan McCain recently met Heidi Montag of The Hills for lunch at The Ivy in Santa Monica, CA.  Paparazzi extraordinaire, TMZ.com, captured the two on video in the restaurant's parking lot.

Now this is funny: the paps didn't recognize Meghan and focused their attention on Heidi, often cutting Meghan out of the shot.  The joke was on them though, because they missed their money shot, a candid interview with the first daughter wannabe.

Meghan McCain and Heidi Montag did lunch recently at The Ivy on the Shore in Santa Monica, CA.

Polichicks reported earlier that Heidi Montag, LC's frenemy on The Hills, endorsed John McCain for President.  To that, McCain responded: "I'm honored to have Heidi's support, and I want to assure her that I never miss an episode of The Hills."

Meghan McCain and her mom Cindy went to Vietnam to support Operation Smile, a nonprofit organization that surgically repairs cleft palettes on children in impoverished countries.  (Meghan's younger sister, Bridget, was born with a cleft palette.)  In the video below, Meghan shares her experiences working with Operation Smile.

All you'll ever need to know about first daughter wannabe Meghan McCain, courtesy of The Washington Post:

[Meghan] told MTV she thinks Barack Obama is "sexy." She has a teeny tiny tattoo of a star on her foot. ("I have always been drawn to people with tattoos," she writes on her blog.) She's been known to drink beer on primary nights when she's really stressed out. She adores the stylings of the corset-wearing burlesque stripper Dita Von Teese, and she told GQ she thinks the uber-trashy bisexual hook-up show "A Shot at Love With Tila Tequila" is "hilarious!"

In response to those who pressure women to be a size 0, Meghan McCain published this essay on her website:

Inner Beauty

by Meghan McCain

As you may have noticed, I seldom use the Blogette as a medium to discuss social or political issues unless I feel particularly compelled to do so. This is one of those times. One of the unintended consequences of my dad becoming the presumptive Republican nominee is the increased level of public scrutiny on him and our family. Of course I expected more than my fair share when I decided to put myself out there and write a blog on the campaign; however, I've been surprised by critical comments regarding my weight and body shape.  It recently reached a ridiculous level when someone handed me a business card for a plastic surgeon and suggested I needed liposuction. I am proud of my curves and have always loved my fuller figure, as should every woman who is not a size "0".  I want to be a positive role model for my little sister and all of the other young women who read my blog and help perpetuate a more positive image for women, regardless of their body size. I feel empowered to tell everyone that it's important to maintain a healthy weight that works for them - not everyone is going to be model thin, nor should they expect to be. To every young girl reading this blog, it is inner beauty and happiness that makes a person beautiful, not a number on a scale.

Campaign '08:

Hillary Clinton is back.  She won Ohio, Texas, and Rhode Island in Tuesday's primaries.  Rival Barack Obama won Vermont.  On the Republican ticket, John McCain won all 4 states and scored enough delegates to snag the Republican nomination. [The New York Times]

Mike Huckabee dropped out of the presidential race Tuesday.  "It's been a heckuva run," he said. [CNN]

Why hasn't Katie Couric, the highest paid news anchor, moderated a debate? Some say CBS News hasn't hosted a debate because of cost and lack of organization, leaving Katie disappointed. [The New York Observer]

Chelsea Clinton and Meghan McCain have totally different styles.  Each is helping her parent on the campaign trail in her own way. [Politico]

U.S. News:

The gym at Harvard is off limits to men a couple of hours each week to accomodate Muslim women who cannot work out in front of men. This policy is causing drama on campus, as some students think it's unfair while others don't mind it.  [CNN]

Jack Nicholson dishes on why he won't run for office ("I like my job."), his advice to friend Warren Beatty who just might run for office ("...I remind him that we've  got the best job.") and how he wishes politicians would stop calling celebrities "Hollywood nitwits" ("They can't get along without us.") in Part 2 of his interview with MTV News.  (We told you about Part 1 -where he endorses Hillary Clinton- here.)  [MTV News]

World News:

Cubans are frustrated by government restrictions that forbid them to travel to foreign countries, access the internet or use facilities, like hotels, that are reserved for tourists.  There's not much hope that new president Raul Castro, brother of Fidel, will do much to change this.
